Meet Dr. Heather Mack, DVM, Creator of Equine RainDrop Therapy
The person behind this revolutionary aromatherapy application for horses
Dr. Heather Mack was raised in Pennsylvania, surrounded by animals and nature, where her love for animals, and respect for a holistic approach to life were fostered.
She was one of the first women accepted at Columbia University in New York City, and received her B.S. there.
After that, she spent one year in Great Britain, studying Veterinary Science at the University of Bristol, in Langford, U.K.
Dr. Mack then went on to finish her schooling at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1991. She was certified in acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society that same year, having started her study and practice of acupuncture with Dr. Kenny Gong in 1985.
Dr. Mack is also certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.
A continuing path of study
Dr. Mack is on a continual path of study of alternative medicine, and has dedicated her life to the conscious practice of holistic medicine on animals.
In this pursuit, after experiencing the benefits of RainDrop on herself, she wanted to find a way to apply this powerful aromatherapy technique to horses. She found the healing and health-supporting potential of therapeutic-grade essential oils to be so powerful, aromatherapy for horses has become a standard part of her practice. She has said of Valor (one of the oil blends used in the Equine RainDrop Therapy; but it would be even more true of Balance™ from dōTERRA®), "I don't know how I ever practiced medicine without it."
Dr. Mack specializes in equine sports medicine, and believes that, in our increasingly fast-paced world, horses are an important link to keep us connected to our earth and its natural rhythms.
