Soothing and regenerative, highly prized and sought after

 from doTERRA
Price:  $100.95

Helichrysum is one of the most sought-after essential oils, due to its pain-reducing, analgesic, regenerative, fungicidal and anti-inflammatory properties.  It has traditionally been used for its soothing and regenerative effects.

5 ml bottle.

About helichrysum oil:

Helichrysum is a perennial plant of the daisy family.  Distilled from the blossom of the plant, quality helichrysum oil is quite rare.  Because it is almost exclusively wild-crafted (due to the difficulty of maintaining active constituent levels in domestic strains), it tends to be hard to find.

Helichrysum italicum is the most commonly distilled strain, because of its high concentration of therapeutic constituents, as compared to other strains.

dōTERRA's Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® (CPTG®) helichrysum essential oil represents the highest quality available.  The active constituents of helichrysum have not been identified in any other essential oil.  These chemical constituents include:

  • up to 10% diketones, which are known for their regenerative effects, through the stimulation of healing in the cells,
  • up to 30% sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, known as calming and anti-inflammatory agents, and
  • up to 50% esters, which have anti-spasmodic properties.

Together, the powerful chemical profile of helichrysum oil makes it ideal for

  • general regenerative effects,
  • easing muscle or joint discomfort,

as well as for its soothing and cleansing properties.  It is a wonderful oil that is highly prized by essential oils users, and is useful for many personal applications.

How to use: For aromatic and topical use.  Diffuse aromatically or apply topically, either diluted with fractionated coconut oil or neat (undiluted).

Helichrysum may also be ingested.  It is listed as GRAS for human consumption by the FDA (21CFR182.20); however, it should not be ingested by children six years and younger.

This past year, I had some minor dental work done (it didn't even require any deadening of the nerve); but in the process of working on the one tooth, the molar behind it was severely affected.  I couldn't chew on it, and it was extremely sensitive to both hot and cold, with a deep ache into my jaw. I was really miserable.

My dentist concluded that I needed a root canal (which I had already concluded, before asking).  But, due to scheduling, I couldn't get in to have the tooth worked on right away; so I decided to see what helichrysum oil would do.

Whenever the tooth started hurting, I put a few drops of helichrysum oil on a cotton swab and stuck it back by the tooth.  Even when I had given the pain a good head-start before reaching for the oil, it was very effective at bringing the pain under control, in short order.  Over a period of about a week, the tooth became less sensitive, and within a couple of weeks, there was no indication of a problem with the tooth, at all.

I had chosen helichrysum oil, not just because of its anesthetic properties, but because of its reputed tissue- (specifically nerve tissue-) regenerative properties.  I found it to be very effective for this.

Some years previously (when I was still getting acquainted with the oils), my wife was suffering greatly with one of her molars.  We wanted to try everything else, within reasonable limits, before we acquiesced to a root canal.  She was in terrible pain one evening, when it suddenly registered that helichrysum oil was supposed to be a good pain-killer.  So I got some out for her to try.

She put a drop or two on her finger tip and stuck her finger way back by the TMJ.  Almost immediately, she stopped, and her eyes got big.  The helichrysum oil had given her almost immediate and complete relief.

The pain returned some hours later, and she re-applied the oil, with similar results.  Keeping at this, over the course of a few weeks, didn't prevent her from eventually needing the root canal; but in the mean time, she had regained the hearing she had lost from years of loud music and, more recently, working around noisy machinery.

You could say that helichrysum oil has been a real blessing to our family.
